The Real Cost of Starting?

1st Aug 2003

A friend of mine Paul Ward recently decided he wanted to break into this great sport of ours.

Not really knowing anything about where to start he asked if I would help him sort out what he needed. After much thought and investigation using articles on the web and talking to people, He had already decided that he wanted to purchase a setup that would not need upgrading fairly quickly and had the potential to last him a good long while. In other words he didn't want scrimp though neither did he want to go overboard. However, not really into DIY either Paul also needed buy some fairly basic equipment.

Paul has very kindly taken note of what his purchases costs and allowed us to publish them here, as a guide to others.
