Make Your Own Transfer
(LaserTran)

I have been asked by a number of members how I get such a good quality
transfers onto my canopies (see image above).
I use a product called Lasertran and the name kind of gives the process
away. here are the simple steps that I use to apply the transfers:
- I cram as many images as I can onto a PowerPoint slide
- Using photo quality paper I print off the PowerPoint slide on a colour
DeskJet printer
- Pop into my local print shop and give them the print out and a sheet
of Lasertran and ask them to colour photocopy the images onto the
Lasertran (you could use a laser colour printer in step 2 and avoid the
photocopy stage)
- Cut around each of the Lasertran images
- Drop an image into warm water, the Lasertran will curl up, don't worry
about this.
- When the Lasertran starts to uncurl it is ready to slide off the
backing paper onto the canopy
- Using a clean handkerchief finish placing the Lasertran and smooth out
any bubbles.
- I then overspray the transfers with a clear lacquer, but I don't think
this is essential.
The DISADVANTAGE, as with all transparent transfer material you can not
represent white on the image
