Adlington Flying
Field
This is a new flying field for the club.
The main points to note are the following:
-
The field is located within Adlington, Macclesfield
-
We currently have unrestricted flying times,
although we have currently, set 10:00 till dusk flying times
-
The new field is paid in advance on a monthly basis
-
Access is excellent, just off a main road,
through the farmers yard, onto a gravel bed road to another field
-
Location is excellent, there are no noise sensitive
areas in close proximity, expect that of the farmer’s house
-
Surrounding landscape is well suited to our needs,
flat with few trees
Below are various pictures showing the field location,
please click on them to see them full size.
Our initial proposals for flying field layout, discussed
within the committee and some others. This is subject to improvement and
change depending on what feedback we receive from everyone. The layout
is very similar to that of Mottram, including distances for access etc.
The main difference is that of a skewed flight line, this is to try and
keep models further away from the farmer’s house and also further from
the first field to the right, which is used by horse/pony riders.
Safety
& Courtesy
The field is on a trial basis, therefore please can
everybody respect that initial thoughts and perceptions of us will be
very important.. For this reason we have agreed, initially to conduct
more of a subdued flying style from those who fly out the most, this
referrers to people flying out at a fair distance and performing more
advanced, acrobatic flying...this certainly includes me!
If you notice, or are informed of people entering the
first field to ride on horses, use common sense and courtesy and do not
fly near these people or over them, this goes hand in hand by the rules
and recommendation within your BMFA guide. This positive attitude and
courtesy to others will promote necessary safe flying, whilst being
neighbourly.

gate into the yard. Please leave the gate as you found it, open or
closed
-
Proceed to the far side opposite, to the gate
between the end two sheds. Please drive very slowly and cautiously,
as there are animals, people and machines busy in and out of
buildings

-
Enter this first field staying to the left hand
side, following the loose gravel type road
-
Parking is on the rise, to the right, before the
gate into the second field

-
Vehicular access to the second field is allowed to
drop off equipment, although probably not necessary
-
All vehicles to return to the first field on the
rise, parked sensibly
-
Again all gates to be left as they were found, as
requested by the farmer

The main
flying area/squares are on a rise on the land in our flying field,

Flyers
Flying at the new trial field, is in close proximity to the Woodford
club (Woodford Aerodrome)
The current Channels used at Woodford are: 63,
64, 65, 68, 69, 72, 78, 80. If any one is currently flying on
any one of these channels then you will have to change to another
channel which is not on the list.
Flying Times
Please be aware that when the local noise around the flying fields reduces, for
example there is less traffic passing by, the apparent noise generated by our
models may become much more noticeable and therefore more intrusive. Please be
aware and sensitive to any change in local conditions and act accordingly. To do
so is in your own interest!
